Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This verse is one of the most comforting invitations Jesus gives — not just to the strong, the joyful, or the “put-together,” but to those who are tired, weary, and carrying heavy loads.

A personal call

It’s a personal call straight from the heart of Jesus: “Come to Me.” He doesn’t say fix yourself first, or get it all together, or be perfect. He simply says, come. That means exactly how you are — overwhelmed, anxious, broken, or just plain exhausted from the weight of life.

Inner calm

When Jesus says, “I will give you rest,” He’s not just talking about physical rest. The word “rest” (anapausis) means peace, renewal, refreshment, and restoration — the kind that reaches your soul. It’s a promise of deep, inner calm that the world can’t provide. It’s the peace that comes from knowing you don’t have to carry your burdens alone anymore.

Daily Verses

Deuteronomy 13:4 (New International Version)

It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
